Betty Lou Byrnes One of a Kind Santa's & Such

~~About Me~~

When I was a little girl, Santa always held a special place in my heart. This is where all my original doll sculptures begin. If I had to sum up my creative process, I would say it starts in my heart and goes to my head and then to my hands where it emerges in clay. I have a studio in my home where it remains Christmas all year long.

"I consider each one of my hand-crafted Santa's a labor of love. This is why I’m very selective about the materials I use. For face, hands, legs, feet and boots. I use ProSculpt polymer clay. It helps me give each Santa the warm, natural expression he deserves. Fine glass eyes add that special twinkle. For

the snowy white hair and flowing beards, I choose the softest mohair. I use wire armature to create each Santa’s pose. Over this, I make a soft-sculpted body.

Since clothes make the man, I design and sew each Santa’s outfit, carefully adding special trims, tiny treasures and toys to complement the ensemble.

hope my Santa's will warm your heart with the pure joy and childlike wonder of Christmas morning.
